The much-loved Lighting Up Lives campaign returns to Swanage Pier this festive season. Now in its sixth year, this special community event continues to provide a meaningful way for people to celebrate, remember and honour those who hold a special place in their hearts.

Light Up a Life, Help Preserve the Pier
When you sponsor a light in honour of someone special, you are doing more than creating a heartfelt tribute. Your support also helps raise vital funds for the ongoing restoration, maintenance and preservation of Swanage Pier.
Every light contributes to securing the future of this iconic landmark, ensuring it remains a place of beauty, heritage and community for generations to come.
Whether you are remembering a loved one, celebrating a family member or friend, thanking someone who has made a difference, or simply sharing festive wishes, your dedication will help illuminate both the Pier and the lives of others.
Dedicate a Light
We invite you to dedicate a light to someone special, a group, an organisation or a cause that is close to your heart.
For a suggested donation of £12.00, you can create a personal tribute and share a message of remembrance, appreciation, celebration or seasonal goodwill.
Each sponsored light will form part of a beautiful illuminated display along Swanage Pier, creating a magical spectacle throughout the festive season. Your dedication will also be featured on our online Shine a Light page, allowing family, friends and visitors to view and share your message..jpg)
All donations will directly support essential restoration and improvement projects, helping to protect Swanage Pier's unique heritage and ensure it can be enjoyed by future generations.

Lighting up Lives – ‘The Switch On’
Saturday 5th December from 5.30pm
Join us on Saturday 5th December from 5:30pm for the dazzling launch of Swanage Pier's Christmas illuminations! There will be plenty to enjoy throughout the evening, including live music from local favourites Kelp! and the Allsort'd Choir, as well as roaming seasonal characters bringing festive cheer to the Pier.
Step inside the Winter Wonderland Marquee, where festive magic comes to life. Don't miss the chance to snap a photo in Father Christmas's sleigh or our snowy mountain cable car, perfect for creating lasting memories with family and friends.
Treat yourself to something delicious from the 1859 Café & Bistro, whether it's a festive indulgence, a tasty BBQ delight or a warming festive drink.

At 6:00pm, gather on the Pier for the highlight of the evening as our special guest makes a spectacular arrival before officially switching on the Christmas lights. Join the countdown and experience the magical moment as Swanage Pier is transformed into a breathtaking Christmas spectacle.
