Heritage Trail

Swanage Pier Trusts heritage trail is a downloadable resource for schools and educational establishments exploring the rich and interesting history of Swanage pier. It is intended as a self-led walking tour. 

The Heritage Trail incorporates :-

• Introductory PowerPoint
• Heritage Trail Map and Fact Sheet with numbered points of interest.
• Information sheets about the points highlighted on the map 
  • Pier Facts
  • Who owns the Pier?

The PowerPoint can be used as a classroom-based introduction resources before a visit or as a follow up curriculum linked history resource after visiting the pier.

The accompanying information sheet explains each numbered section on the map, explaining in more detail the history of the pier and its connection to Swanage and the surrounding area.

The resources are downloadable and can be printed out.

This trail will in the future be supported by QR codes which will incorporate video and sound clips and images relating to eight of the numbered points on the pier map. These are planned to be in place by mid 2021.
